Douglas J. Springer, M.D., F.A.C.P, F.A.C.G.
Dr. Springer was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1948. He grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Springer is married and has two children, One is an MBA and the other a Marketing Specialist. Dr. Springer is a naturalized U.S. citizen. He obtained a B.S. degree from the University of Toronto and a M.D. from the University of Calgary. Dr. Springer completed his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Calgary, Foothills Regional Hospital. He completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the Hotel Dieu and Kingston General Hospitals both of which are part of the Queen's University Hospital System. Dr. Springer came to Tennessee in 1978 where he has been on the staff of Holston Valley Hospital and Indian Path Medical Center. Dr. Springer is the past president of the Sullivan County Medical Society. He is a member of the Cancer Committee at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital. Dr. Springer has served as the Chief of Medicine at Indian Path and Holston Valley, Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Kingsport IPA and President of the Medical Staff at Holston Valley Medical Center. While in practice, Dr. Springer has published several papers in peer reviewed medical journals. In 1996, he was awarded Fellowship to the American College of Physicians (F.A.C.P.) and, in 1998, awarded Fellowship to the American College of Gastroenterology (F.A.C.G.) Extremely prestigious recognition for outstanding performance. Dr. Springer enjoys fitness activities and golf.

All of the GA doctors are Board Certified in INTERNAL MEDICINE and Board Certified in GASTROENTEROLOGY. Each doctor is also a CLINICAL ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF MEDICINE for the Quillen School of Medicine at ETSU.
